Trump Presents Gaza Proposal With Israeli Backing, Hamas Still Weighing Trump Presents Gaza Proposal With Israeli Backing, Hamas Still Weighing

Rabat – US President Donald Trump has unveiled a plan aimed at ending Israel’s genocide on Gaza – presenting it as a decisive ultimatum rather than a negotiable offer.

Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday at the White House, Trump said Israel already agreed to the proposal. “We’re just waiting for Hamas,” he declared, as he gave the Palestinian group three to four days to respond.

Hamas’s negotiating team is currently studying the plan, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed, adding that meetings are underway in Doha with Egyptian and Turkish officials also involved in mediation.

“It is too early to speculate on the outcome,” the spokesman said, but noted that Qatar is “upbeat” about the plan’s potential.

The proposal includes a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, international guarantees of self-governance for Palestinians in the enclave, and the release of captives and prisoners. It also promises reconstruction aid under international supervision.

The plan also stipulates that Hamas would lay down its arms and have no role in governing Gaza.

Trump warned that if Hamas does not accept the plan, Israel would be free to escalate its attacks on Gaza.

Reactions to Trump’s plan have been sharply divided. Fatah, the Palestinian faction dominating the Palestinian Authority, welcomed international efforts to end the genocide but insisted on key conditions – including a full Israeli withdrawal and Palestinian unity across Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

At the same time, senior Fatah official Abbas Zaki dismissed the plan as a “document of surrender” designed to entrench occupation.

Former Israeli Justice Minister Yossi Beilin said a “big majority” of the cabinet and public want to see the war end, while far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich branded the plan a “resounding diplomatic failure.”

Meanwhile, conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate. Medical staff warn of catastrophic shortages of supplies, and the Health Ministry reports that hundreds have died of hunger since the war began. A recent UN investigation has further declared that Israel is committing genocide.

Since dawn, at least 45 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza, including civilians seeking aid in central areas. Witnesses described constant explosions in Gaza City as Israeli ground forces expanded their operations.
