Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has officially launched the field deployment of its smart police patrol vehicles “Aman” and “Madar” in the streets of Rabat at the beginning of this week in July 2026. The initiative forms part of the institution’s broader strategy to modernize policing through advanced technology and artificial intelligence while enhancing the quality and efficiency of public security services.
The deployment follows the successful completion of the design, engineering, testing and officer training phases. Authorities plan to expand the use of the two vehicles to Casablanca and Tangier in the coming days before progressively introducing them across major Moroccan cities.
“Aman” is a fully Moroccan-developed smart patrol vehicle designed by DGSN engineers and technical specialists. It features a comprehensive 360-degree surveillance system, high-definition cameras, automatic license plate recognition technology and real-time facial recognition powered by advanced artificial intelligence algorithms.
The vehicle is capable of conducting instant visual verification while on patrol and remains directly connected to command and coordination centers through an integrated digital platform. This allows security teams to receive and exchange information in real time, improving crime prevention efforts, accelerating operational responses and supporting traffic management.
Alongside “Aman”, the DGSN has introduced “Madar”, an intelligent mobile surveillance platform designed to transform conventional police vehicles into advanced technological units. The system includes high-resolution cameras capable of monitoring traffic across multiple lanes simultaneously, a panoramic camera completing a full rotation in less than three seconds, an advanced emergency lighting system, GPS positioning and direct access to the national police database.
The introduction of these innovative patrol vehicles reflects Morocco’s commitment to digital transformation and homegrown technological innovation while strengthening the country’s security capabilities ahead of major international events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
