British Airways launches new route from London to Rabat – The North Africa Post

British Airways has launched a new route from London Gatwick to Rabat, Morocco, starting November 5, 2025. Rabat has become the third Moroccan destination for British Airways, alongside Marrakech and Agadir, reflecting Morocco’s growing tourism appeal, with a 68% increase in visitors compared to 2019.

Morocco’s capital city is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, architecture and distinctive blend of tradition and modernity. As a destination offering warm weather year-round, it’s ideal for travelers seeking sunshine closer to home.

Morocco’s tourism sector is a cornerstone of the country’s economy, contributing significantly to GDP and employment. In 2024, Morocco welcomed a record-breaking 17.4 million tourists, a 20% increase from 2023’s 14.5 million, surpassing the pre-pandemic high of 13 million in 2019 by 35%.

This growth trajectory continued into 2025, with 8.9 million international visitors in the first half of 2025, a 19 percent surge that adds 1.4 million additional tourists compared to the same period last year. The sector is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 3% from 2025 to 2030, with ambitions to reach 17.5 million visitors by 2026 and 26 million by 2030, driven by Morocco’s co-hosting of the FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
