On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Throne Day, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, promoted Abdelmajid El Malkouni, Regional Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Tangier, to the rank of General as part of the military promotions announced for the national celebration.
The promotion recognizes a distinguished career within the Royal Gendarmerie, during which El Malkouni held a number of command positions. After graduating from the Royal Military Academy, he commanded the Royal Gendarmerie companies in Zagora and Taounate, served as Deputy Regional Commander in Fez, and later led the regional commands of El Jadida, Meknes and Casablanca.
In August 2025, he was appointed Regional Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie in Tangier, where he assumed responsibility for a strategically important region known for its economic, commercial and tourism activity.
Since taking office, he has overseen the strengthening of the Royal Gendarmerie’s field presence, intensified operations targeting organized crime, international drug trafficking and irregular migration, and continued efforts to secure road networks and rural areas through a proactive and coordinated security approach.
The promotion reflects recognition of General Abdelmajid El Malkouni’s professional record and forms part of the annual promotions granted on the occasion of Throne Day to honor military and security personnel who have demonstrated competence, dedication and exemplary service.
