Morocco’s Monarch charts steady course toward inclusive development – The North Africa Post

In an era of political volatility and digital noise, King Mohammed VI of Morocco continues to embody a model of governance rooted in long-term vision and institutional stability.

His recent address to Parliament, delivered during the constitutionally mandated opening session, reaffirmed a philosophy of leadership that resists the temptations of short-term populism and instead embraces the steady and deliberate work of national transformation.

The King’s speech was a sober reminder that statecraft is not a sprint but a marathon. Those anticipating dramatic announcements or political upheaval misunderstand the nature of Morocco and its centuries-old monarchy, which has long operated as a stabilizing force above the fray of partisan politics.

At the heart of the King’s message was a call for ensuring that both flagship national projects and social justice programs go hand in hand.

“There should be no contradiction or competition between major national projects and social programs,” he made it clear, underscoring a governance model that seeks to harmonize growth with equity.

In Morocco’s vision of progress, prosperity is not a privilege of the few but a shared national objective.

The King reminded lawmakers of their constitutional responsibilities, which extends beyond legislation to include the evaluation of public policy and ensuring the government’s accountability. The time for action, he suggested, is now urging politicians to stop wasting time.

The King called for a “significant change in mindsets and working methods,” and for a “deep-rooted culture of results.”

Both social and territorial justice are strategic imperatives, according to the King. From mountain regions to coastal zones, from emerging rural centers to urban peripheries, the vision is clear: every territory must reap the benefits of Morocco’s development. The goal is not only to reduce disparities but to build a nation where opportunity is equitably distributed.

“These are major issues that go beyond the temporal limits of governmental and parliamentary action,” the King noted.
