Morocco beat Bahrain 1-0 just at the last moment, thanks to a stoppage-time header from Jaouad El Yamiq.
The game started quickly, with Hakimi weaving into the box in the first minute, but his cross went nowhere. Saibari had a shot blocked, and Hakimi’s header flew over the bar. Bahrain’s defence struggled, and Diaz nearly scored, only for the keeper to save. Morocco also came close from corners, but the first half ended goalless.
After the break, coach Walid Regragui made changes, bringing on Igamane and En-Nesyri and switching to a 4-4-2. It worked. In the 94th minute, Hakimi’s corner found El Yamiq towering over defenders who headed home for the winner.
Morocco face next the Republic of Congo on October 14 at the same venue in the CAF World Cup qualifications.
