Morocco was elected Tuesday Vice-President of the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, taking place in Awaza, Turkmenistan August 5 to 8.
Morocco’s election, in the person of Permanent Representative to the UN Omar Hilale, is an international recognition of the important role played by Morocco to enable landlocked countries access to the sea for their economic development, international trade and connectivity.
The Royal initiative offering Atlantic Ocean access to Sahel countries is evidence of Morocco’s commitment to strengthen the resilience of landlocked developing countries.
Without access to the global marketplace and deprived of the means to develop adequate transport and logistics infrastructure, landlocked developing countries are facing major challenges in achieving the sustainable development goals.
The Turkmenistan conference is an opportunity for landlocked developing countries to build partnerships to unleash their great economic development potential. The event will discuss innovative solutions, strategic partnerships, and increased investment to help them address their economic and development challenges.
By supporting these countries, the international community contributes to building more equitable and prosperous future for all.
