Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch stated before the House of Representatives that the government continues its efforts to strengthen the quality of public education and ensure equal opportunities for students across all regions of the country.
Speaking during a monthly parliamentary session on public policy, Akhannouch said that the reforms implemented in the education sector are guided by royal directives and the objectives established in Morocco’s framework law on education, training and scientific research.
He noted that restoring confidence in the public school system remains a strategic priority for the government and that the current academic year represents an important stage in advancing ongoing reform projects.
According to figures presented during the session, Morocco’s public education system currently serves around seven million students in the 2025-2026 academic year, including approximately 730,000 first-time enrollees.
Akhannouch also highlighted progress in the expansion of preschool education, with enrollment coverage now exceeding 80 percent, supported by the creation of more than 11,000 new preschool classrooms.
The Head of Government further stated that the education sector’s budget increased from 58 billion dirhams in 2021 to 99 billion dirhams in 2026, reflecting the central role education occupies within the government’s priorities.
