Joint provincial inspection committees carried out a series of control operations across areas of Kenitra, leading to the identification of unlicensed warehouses reportedly used for fruit ripening, particularly bananas.
The inspections were conducted as part of ongoing efforts to monitor food quality standards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations governing products destined for consumer markets.
According to available information, inspectors found quantities of fruit stored in facilities that did not meet certain hygiene and preservation requirements. Observations were also recorded regarding storage conditions and the level of equipment available at several of the inspected sites.
Field inspections further documented the use of substances intended to accelerate fruit ripening and alter the appearance of products before they were placed on the market.
Following the operation, the products concerned were seized and the relevant administrative and legal procedures were initiated. Authorities stated that monitoring campaigns will continue in order to strengthen food safety measures and ensure compliance with applicable quality standards.
