    Morocco’s Group Stage Opponents Revealed

Morocco will face Colombia, Chile and the Netherlands in the group stage of the 2026 Kings League of Nations, after the draw in Copacabana, Brazil. The tournament starts in January, with hosts and defending champions Brazil in Group D alongside Spain, Qatar and Peru.

Other groups include Germany, Argentina, the United States and Japan in Group B, Italy, France, Poland and Belgium in Group C, and Mexico, Saudi Arabia, India and Indonesia in Group E.

Morocco reached the semi-finals in the first edition of the tournament in Italy earlier this year, losing 2-1 to Colombia, a team they will meet again in the group stage. They had opened that campaign with a defeat to Colombia but later beat Ukraine, Japan, and the United States in the quarter-finals.

The Kings League, founded by former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué in 2022, is a seven-a-side football competition with unusual rules and a strong online presence. Matches are played on artificial turf and streamed on Twitch, YouTube and TikTok. Fans can vote on certain game decisions. A women’s version, the Queens League, is also planned.

Teams are led by former stars and content creators, including Sergio Agüero and Iker Casillas. Matches last 40 minutes, split into two halves of 20, with unique rules like golden cards that can double goals, award penalties, or temporarily suspend an opponent. Ties are decided by shootouts from the centre, and fireworks follow every goal.

The Kings League will officially kick off on 24 October with the Kings Cup MENA in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The five-day event will feature teams led by celebrity presidents as part of Riyadh Season, which also includes tennis and boxing events.

Seven of the region’s biggest streamers revealed their teams for Kings League MENA at an event in August hosted by Piqué. Kings League MENA is the seventh regional league, following Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Brazil and Latin America.

Kings League CEO Djamel Agaoua said: “The Kings Cup MENA will give fans in Riyadh and across the region a new experience, blending football with digital culture.”
