Moroccan actress Saïda Baâdi has completed filming her scenes in the feature film “Yema Nbaghik”, the latest cinematic project by writer and director Abdelilah El Jouhary, who brings to the screen a deeply emotional social drama centered on loss, hope, identity, and the enduring bond between a mother and her child.
In the film, Baâdi portrays a mother whose life is turned upside down after the disappearance of her four-year-old blind son, Hassan. Refusing to give up despite the passing years, she embarks on a relentless search for her child, driven by hope and unwavering maternal love. What begins as a heartbreaking family tragedy gradually develops into a compelling story about reunion, resilience, and the search for belonging.
Meanwhile, Hassan grows up in a charitable institution after becoming separated from his family. As he reaches adulthood, he builds a successful career as a singer before deciding to search for the mother he has never forgotten. His journey unfolds alongside his mother’s own quest, creating a parallel narrative that ultimately reconnects their lives after years of separation while exploring themes of identity, family roots, and emotional resilience.
The screenplay and direction are both signed by Abdelilah El Jouhary, while production is handled by Zorba Bgoud, a company that is betting on a socially driven cinematic work highlighting family relationships, identity, and the emotional dimensions of human experience.
El Jouhary has once again entrusted the leading role to actor Saad Mouaffak, renewing their collaboration following the success of the award-winning film “Al Abd”, which received several national and international honors. Their renewed partnership reflects the confidence built through previous successful projects.
Alongside Saïda Baâdi and Saad Mouaffak, the cast includes Abdessamad Miftah El Kheir, Essadik Mekouar, Younes Mikri, Hamid Ziane, and Fattah Nekkadi, bringing together a distinguished group of well-known Moroccan performers.
At the same time, Baâdi recently completed filming her scenes in the television movie “Ahlam La Tamout” (“Dreams Never Die”), directed by Hamid Baskit. The production was filmed in Casablanca and its surrounding areas as part of a television project commissioned by Al Aoula, Morocco’s national public television channel, and focuses on stories inspired by contemporary Moroccan society.
In the television film, Baâdi plays the character Maria, one of the central figures through whom several social and human stories unfold. The production draws inspiration from everyday Moroccan life, presenting a dramatic exploration of various societal challenges through realistic characters and situations.
“Ahlam La Tamout” reflects the continued prominence of social drama within Morocco’s television industry, a genre that consistently attracts strong audience interest.
