Morocco’s grain harvest campaign is gathering pace, with daily collection volumes exceeding 100,000 quintals during the second week of June, according to figures released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.
The regions of Casablanca-Settat, Fez-Meknes and Marrakech-Safi accounted for approximately 84 percent of the total collected volume, highlighting their central role in the country’s cereal production.
Agriculture Minister Ahmed El Bouari stated that the priorities of the current agricultural season extend beyond achieving strong production levels and include improving the marketing of domestic crops, expanding storage capacity and strengthening Morocco’s food security.
The minister also noted that new measures have been introduced to build a strategic reserve of soft wheat, aiming to enhance the country’s ability to cope with market fluctuations and climate-related challenges. He described the current agricultural season as an important step in the recovery of the sector following several years affected by drought conditions.
