    Infantino Commends Morocco’s Stadium Infrastructure

Rabat — FIFA chief Gianni Infantino hailed Morocco’s strong commitment to developing world-class facilities during a visit to the Grand Stadium of Tangier today.

Accompanied by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), and Younes Tazi, Governor of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Infantino inspected the progress of the stadium’s renovation works, which are nearing completion at a record pace.

The project, carried out entirely by Moroccan workers and supported by local expertise, is part of the country’s broader strategy to upgrade its sports infrastructure ahead of upcoming continental and international football events.

Infantino hailed the quality and speed of the work and spoke highly of Morocco, the leadership of King Mohammed VI, and the ongoing efforts to reinforce its position on the global football stage.

These comments echo Infantino’s previous remarks on Morocco’s rising prestige in the world of football.

Speaking earlier this year, he described Morocco as a “great football elite” that is gearing up and boosting its ability to host major tournaments with excellence.

He pointed to Morocco’s upcoming organization of the FIFA Club World Cup and the co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal as examples of its growing influence in the sport.

Morocco has been investing heavily in sports infrastructure in recent years, with stadiums such as those in Rabat, Marrakech, and Agadir.

The Tangier stadium – which has hosted high-profile matches including the Spanish Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup fixtures – is one of the cornerstones of this strategy.

With FIFA’s endorsement and continued domestic investment, Morocco is cementing its role not only as a hub for African football but also as a serious global player in hosting major international tournaments.
