Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DSGT), is on a working visit to Turkey at the head of a high-level security delegation. The visit coincides with his participation in the International Forum on Internal Security Equipment, Technological Advances, and Scientific Innovations (IGEF 2025), held in Ankara September 18 to 20.

Hammouchi, who is invited by Turkish authorities, discussed with Director General of the Turkish National Police, Mahmut Demirtaş, means of strengthening bilateral cooperation in security matters, and upgrading joint efforts to ensure stability, prevent threats, and address shared challenges, the DGSN-DGST said in a statement.

The two sides also discussed current security concerns, particularly irregular migration and its links to organized crime networks. Emphasis was placed on the need to develop police training methods and invest in human resources to better anticipate future security challenges.

They further explored ways to support the success of upcoming international events Morocco is set to host, including the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech in November 2025, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Portugal and Spain.

The meeting was characterized by a convergence of views and a mutual commitment to strengthening security cooperation between the two countries, and to exchanging expertise across various security fields, in a way that reinforces the special relationship between the two countries.

Hammouchi also held bilateral talks with the heads of delegations from several countries participating in the IGEF 2025 exhibition, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Malaysia, the DGSN-DGST statement said. Discussions covered the current security cooperation between these countries and Morocco, mechanisms to elevate them to a higher level of police partnership, as well as shared threats and challenges.

In a related context, the Moroccan official and the accompanying security delegation toured various sections of the IGEF 2025 International Exhibition, a global platform highlighting the latest technological advancements and innovations in security and defense.

During the tour, the delegation reviewed a range of innovative equipment in internal security and global security and policing technologies, aimed at improving the security system and enhancing its effectiveness in countering emerging criminal threats.

The visit undescores the growing importance of strengthening and developing mechanisms of international security cooperation and boosting bilateral and multilateral partnerships in the policing field, viewed as key to countering the international and regional expansion of terrorism risks and transnational organized crime threats, the statement said.
