Menara Prefa Inaugurates $15 Million Concrete Solutions Plant in Safi

Marrakech – Menara Prefa, a subsidiary of Menara Holding, inaugurated its new prefabricated concrete products manufacturing plant in Safi on Friday. The facility represents an investment of MAD 150 million ($15 million), though other sources point to a lower figure of MAD 90.8 million ($9.08 million).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Mohamed Zahid, Chairman and CEO of Menara Holding. This facility marks Menara Préfa’s fifth strategic location in Morocco.

The new plant continues the group’s territorial expansion across different regions of the country, following previous projects in Marrakech, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Beni Mellal, and Khouribga. This network confirms the company’s commitment to developing a national footprint and supporting regional economic growth.

Designed as a genuine industrial hub, the new facility integrates three complementary production units: a ready-mix concrete plant, a manufacturing line for hollow blocks, pavers and curbs, and a prestressed beam unit.

This cutting-edge infrastructure responds to the growing demand for construction solutions while aligning with the group’s commitment to sustainable development.

Beyond its industrial contribution, the new platform will actively support territorial development in Safi province. It will create 106 direct jobs and 159 indirect jobs, promoting professional integration and strengthening the local economic fabric. The plant projects expected revenue of MAD 107.64 million ($10.76 million).

In a statement to MAP, Minister Mezzour stressed that “with this establishment in Safi, Menara Prefa strengthens the Kingdom’s territorial dynamics, driven by Moroccan capital committed to industrial development.” He noted that this project is part of a rapidly expanding prefabricated sector.

Prefabricated materials industry generated $1.62 billion in 2024

The minister added that the prefabricated materials industry in Morocco is booming, generating MAD 16.23 billion ($1.62 billion) in revenue in 2024, a 17% increase compared to 2022. The sector now encompasses more than 283 companies and accounts for 18,000 direct jobs.

Zahid remarked that “this project would not have been possible without the support provided to industrial companies by the ministry.” He praised the efforts made to support economic actors and encourage investment in vital sectors.

“Moroccan businessmen aspire to see their country achieve more progress in various sectors, particularly in concrete materials, which is an important lever for modern construction,” he added.

The project is part of an agreement signed with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on April 21, 2021. This public-private partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening local production and enhancing the North African country’s industrial attractiveness in the construction sector.

Since its creation in 2002, Menara Prefa has established itself as a key player in the production of concrete and prefabricated solutions. With more than 1,100 employees, the company pursues a clear vision combining innovation, industrial excellence, and territorial anchoring.
