Prosecutor Claims ‘Sufficient Charges’ Against Hakimi, But Star Maintains Innocence

Rabat – The public prosecutor of Nanterre has requested a criminal trial for Achraf Hakimi citing “sufficient charges” in relation to allegations of sexual assault, L’Equipe reported.

The French daily reported that the request was made in August, and the judge of instruction must now decide whether to dismiss the case or send it to a criminal court.

The news comes at a time when the Moroccan international is one of the top contenders for the Ballon d’Or, raising questions about the timing and impact on his career.

Support has grown around the player, with fans and members of the football community rallying behind him. Teammates, including Kylian Mbappé, have provided statements consistent with Hakimi’s version of events. His defense has also pointed to contradictions in the accuser’s story and stressed that no complaint of blackmail or money extortion was ever filed.

    ‘I have done nothing wrong’

Hakimi is accused of non-consensual digital penetration against a 24-year-old woman identified as Amélie. The alleged incident occurred at Hakimi’s Boulogne-Billancourt home during a period when he had recently separated from his wife.

Hakimi has repeatedly denied the claims, describing them as false and suggesting they could be part of an attempt to damage his reputation. In an interview with Canal+, he said, “I have done nothing wrong. I know the truth will come out. This is horrible and unfair, but I am calm because I know my innocence will be proven.”

His defense has also pointed to inconsistencies in the accuser’s statements and notes that no formal complaint of blackmail or financial demand was ever filed. Hakimi’s lawyer, Me Fanny Colin, points to contradictions in the case and supports the player’s consistent account of events.

Supporters argue that this case comes at a particularly sensitive moment in Hakimi’s career, as he is performing at the highest level in European football and is among the favorites to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or. Some suggest the timing of the allegations could be an attempt to tarnish his image and derail his rise in the sport.

Even high-profile witnesses, including Kylian Mbappé, have given statements supporting Hakimi’s version of events. “Achraf Hakimi is respectful toward women. Even when drinking, I’ve never seen him behave inappropriately,” the French striker said, adding that he had never heard of any women saying Hakimi had crossed the line.
