Abdellatif Jouahri, Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, has been named in the list of the world’s top central bank governors in the 2025 edition of Global Finance magazine’s annual Central Banker Report Cards.

Jouahri earned an “A” rating -the highest possible distinction- recognizing his continued excellence in steering Morocco’s monetary policy through complex global and domestic challenges.

The report evaluates central bank governors from over 100 countries and regions, including the European Union, the Caribbean, and African monetary unions.

Ratings are based on key criteria such as inflation control, economic growth, currency stability, and interest rate management.

Jouahri was the only central banker from the Arab world to receive an “A” grade this year, underscoring his reputation for independence, discipline, and strategic foresight.

Jouahri has served as Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib since 2003, becoming one of the longest-serving central bank chiefs globally.

Over the past two decades, he has played a pivotal role in safeguarding Morocco’s financial stability, modernizing its banking system, and reinforcing investor confidence.

His tenure has been marked by cautious monetary policy, robust regulatory reforms, and a commitment to transparency. This has helped Morocco navigate the global financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and recent inflationary pressures.

Jouahri’s continued recognition by Global Finance reinforces his status as a key figure in Morocco’s economic governance and a respected voice in international financial circles.
