Libya investigates smuggling of Ukrainian drones into country from Algeria – The North Africa Post

Libya’s Attorney General has launched an investigation into the smuggling of Ukrainian drones into the country from Algeria. These drones have been delivered to African opposition movements operating in Libya’s southern zone, according to press reports.

The Government of National Unity (GNU) led by Abdelhamid Dbeibah is accused of facilitating these shipments with the support of Ukrainian military attaché.

The Libyan Attorney General is treating this issue with the utmost seriousness, stressing that the probe will focus on logistical routes and all parties involved, whether inside or outside Libya.

He also warned to prosecute all those involved in international courts
for threatening regional security and violating international law.

Few days ago, Moscow accused the Algerian junta of facilitating the transfer of Ukrainian drones and military equipment to terrorist groups operating in the Sahel countries.

Ukrainian special services are using the diplomatic cover of embassies to transfer military equipment and instructors to terrorist groups in Africa, Alexander Ivanov, director of the Officers Union for International Security, told TASS news agency.

“The transfer of Ukrainian instructors and drones to the Islamist group Allied Democratic Forces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is carried out through the Ukrainian embassy in Kinshasa,” he said.

According to Ivanov, Ukraine’s interference undermines the stability of
African countries, especially Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, which have recently regained their sovereignty.
