OCP Nutricrops, a subsidiary of the Moroccan state-owned phosphate group, has been awarded a $34.5 million contract to supply Bangladesh with 40,000 tons of diammonium phosphate (DAP), the most popular phosphorus fertilizer in the world, providing both essential nitrogen and phosphorus (N and P) for plant growth.
The contract enhances further the presence of the OCP group in one of South Asia’s most fertilizer-dependent markets. DAP is a water-soluble fertilizer, which dissolves quickly in soil to release these nutrients, crucial for plants during their early development stages.
The deal shows OCP’s growing role in Bangladesh’s agricultural strategy, where imported fertilizers remain vital to food production and economic stability.
The contract comes after the agreement sealed in July between OCP Nutricrops and Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) to deliver 1.1 million tons of non-urea fertilizers over 2025 and 2026.
Furthermore, a delegation from Bangladesh had visited the Jorf Lasfar industrial platform and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. These visits provided an opportunity to explore cooperation prospects in agronomic research, training, and technology transfer.
Since 2019, the OCP Foundation has trained nearly 15,000 Bangladeshi farmers, including 4,000 women, in sustainable agricultural techniques for a greener future and food security, a strategic priority in Morocco.
