Rabat – Ali Hassan, the well-known Moroccan journalist and former presenter of the program “Cinema El Khamees” (Cinema Thursday), died today in Rabat at the age of 79.
He took his final breath at a hospital in the capital, according to a family source who spoke to SNRTnews.
Hassan began his career in 1964 at Morocco’s national radio and television. He first worked as a news presenter on both television and radio, where his strong presence in front of the microphone and camera quickly made him a familiar face and voice for audiences.
His career later moved toward specialized programs where he became one of the key voices who accompanied the major changes in Morocco’s broadcasting sector.
From 1991 to 2003, he produced and presented “Cinema El Khamees”, a show that introduced Moroccan viewers to both local and international films. His program mixed presentation with thoughtful analysis and cinematic criticism.
After that, Hassan continued with the program “Nadi Essinema” (Cinema Club) from 2003 to 2014. The show kept audiences connected with new film releases as well as classic works.
In addition to his television work, he also presented the radio program “Entr’Acte” at different periods. The show further strengthened his reputation as a voice dedicated to cinema and culture.
Several Moroccan figures, including journalists and academic intellectuals, mourned his passing and recalled his legacy that continues to inspire those in the Moroccan media industry.
Hassan leaves behind a legacy as one of Morocco’s most recognizable media figures, remembered for his passion for cinema and his role in shaping cultural programming on Moroccan television and radio.
