Rabat – Morocco will celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad, known as Mawlid Al Nabawi, on September 5 after the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs confirmed that the new lunar month of Rabi’ al-Awwal will begin on Monday, August 25.

The ministry announced the date following moon-sighting observations across the country, which showed that the crescent was not visible on Saturday evening.

This means the month of Safar lasted 30 days, making Monday the start of the new month.

The ministry extended its wishes of blessings, peace, and prosperity to King Mohammed VI, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, the royal family, and the Moroccan people, as well as to Muslims around the world.

Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi is an important day for Muslims, as it marks the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.

The day is observed in Morocco with prayers, religious lessons, and cultural traditions. It is a time for reflection on the Prophet’s life and teachings, and for many families, it is also a day of joy, gathering, and giving.
