The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has officially confirmed that the upcoming World Cup qualifier between Morocco and Niger will take place at the newly reconstructed Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
The match, part of the sixth round of Group E qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is scheduled for Friday, September 5, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
This fixture marks a significant moment for Moroccan football, as it will serve as the inaugural match at the revamped Moulay Abdellah stadium, a state-of-the-art venue that has been entirely rebuilt and modernized.
The complex is set to host key matches during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, for which Morocco is a co-host.
Described by local media as a “sporting jewel,” the new stadium features cutting-edge infrastructure designed to meet international standards, offering enhanced seating capacity, upgraded facilities for players and fans, and advanced pitch technology. Its unveiling is seen as a major milestone in Morocco’s broader sports development strategy.
The match against Niger, coached by former Moroccan manager Badou Zaki, follows a tightly contested first-leg encounter in Oujda, where Morocco secured a narrow 2–1 victory.
Three days later, the Atlas Lions will travel to Zambia to face the Chipolopolos at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola for the seventh round of qualifiers.
Morocco currently leads Group E with a perfect record of five wins in five matches, totaling 15 points and a goal difference of +12. Tanzania trails in second place with nine points, followed by Zambia and Niger with six points each. Congo remains at the bottom of the group with zero points.
