Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah met with French President Emmanuel Macron’s Special Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, on Sunday to review the ongoing security operation in Tripoli and set priorities for the next stage of stabilization efforts.
The talks disclosed on August 18 by the Prime Minister’s office, addressed bilateral relations, Libya’s political trajectory, and avenues to strengthen cooperation with the European Union. Discussions also focused on consolidating State institutions, supporting the UN mission’s push for elections, and ending Libya’s prolonged transitional period.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of coordinating with neighboring countries and unifying international positions to safeguard Libya’s sovereignty and stability. Dbeibah welcomed France’s announcement of its intention to recognize the State of Palestine, describing it as a significant step in support of Palestinian rights.
Earlier, Soler discussed with Presidential Council head Mohammed Menfi ways to ensure the success of the upcoming UN plan for Libya’s political transition.
