Rabat – Spanish club Sevilla FC announced on Friday that they have signed Moroccan goalkeeper Rayan Azouagh, formerly of Ittihad Tanger.
At just 18 years old, Azouagh is starting his first professional experience abroad. He will play for Sevilla’s reserve team during the 2025-2026 season.
“Young goalkeeper Raayan Azouagh strengthens the youth academy’s goalkeeping department at Sevilla FC,” the club said in a statement.
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the young goalkeeper has signed a three-year contract with the club.
Many pointed out that Azouagh is following the path of fellow Moroccan Yassine Bounou, who also moved to Spain at a young age. Bounou began with Atlético Madrid before making his name in La Liga with Real Zaragoza, Girona, and Sevilla, where he won the UEFA Europa League twice.
“From Yassine Bounou to Rayan Azouagh… the tradition continues,” a page dedicated to young Moroccan footballers wrote.
Ittihad Tanger recently announced Azough’s departure and wished him “great success in his professional career.” The club highlighted his strong performances last season, especially in matches against AS FAR (1-1), Wydad AC (2-2) in the league, and Stade Marocain in the Coupe de l’Excellence.
Azouagh has shown impressive goalkeeping skills, and many believe he has the talent to shine in Europe.
