Rabat – Early on Saturday morning, August 9, security forces in northern Morocco arrested six people suspected of cocaine possession and trafficking.
The arrests followed a joint operation by the Judicial Police of Tetouan, the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), and the Royal Gendarmerie near Ouezzane.
The operation started in the rural area of Al-Kharba, where police apprehended a man and his son.
Authorities found four sheets of cocaine with a combined weight of 4.6 kilograms in their possession.
Further investigations led to the capture of a third family member inside a house in Al-Daradar.
This individual, believed to be the main suspect, resisted arrest violently and opened fire with an unlicensed hunting rifle.
Police quickly neutralized the threat and took the suspect into custody along with another man and two women.
The search also uncovered a large-bladed weapon, an additional 200 grams of cocaine, two electronic scales, two suspected forged license plates, and five vehicles thought to facilitate the trafficking activities.
Authorities confirmed that the main suspect faces two national warrants issued by the Royal Gendarmerie of Tetouan for similar offenses involving drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.
The six detainees currently undergo a judicial inquiry under the supervision of the relevant prosecutor.
