King Mohammed VI expressed deep sorrow in a message addressed to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the death of former Nigerian leader Muhammadu Buhari.

“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I received the news of the passing of His Excllency, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, my predecessor, who departed this life, today, Sunday, July 13, at a hospital in the united Kingdom,” Bola Tinubu announced on Sunday via the social media platform X.

Buhari, marked by his stern approach and uncompromising rhetoric on corruption, earned a reputation among his supporters as a determined reformer.

The Moroccan monarch said he received the news of Buhari’s passing with great emotion and sincere grief.

In his message, he prayed for divine mercy and eternal peace for the late president, offering words of comfort to Buhari’s family and the Nigerian people.

King Mohammed VI described Buhari as a man who devoted his life to the service of his country, placing Nigeria’s interests above all and contributing to its development and prosperity.

He addressed his condolences to President Tinubu, invoking strength and patience in the face of this loss.

The monarch also recalled moments shared with Buhari during past working meetings, which, he noted, led to the launch of joint development projects. These efforts shaped a new phase in cooperation between Morocco and Nigeria.

“I remember with respect the meetings held with the late President, which led to promising joint projects and laid the foundation for a new chapter in our countries’ relations,” the King stated in his message.

Buhari’s passing, he concluded, leaves behind a personal void as well as a national loss for Nigeria, which mourns one of its most committed statesmen.
