The Governing Board of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) held its 62nd meeting on Wednesday in Rabat to strengthen cooperation among African Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).

The event also seeks to promote transparency and the sharing of best practices, and aspires to enhance the capacities of member SAIs and integrate technologies such as Big Data into audit processes.

During the meeting, AFROSAI President Khaled Ahmed Chekchek stated that the rapid changes in science and technology and their direct impact on audit activities require member institutions of the Organization to keep pace with this development, by supporting ideas, knowledge, institutional expertise, as well as scientific and practical experiences.

He noted that the Governing Board meeting, which represents a significant milestone, reaffirms the Organization’s willingness to enhance its bodies in order to benefit from the expertise gained by member institutions.

For her part, Zineb El Adaoui, First President of the Court of Accounts and Secretary-General of AFROSAI, emphasized that this meeting symbolizes cooperation and solidarity among African countries, and serves as an opportunity to renew the strategic thinking and commitments.

El Adaoui praised the spirit of responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect that characterized the work of the technical committees over the past two days, calling for continued efforts to further develop and organize AFROSAI’s work, in order to strengthen its effectiveness and its capacity to tackle both current and future major challenges.

“Beyond fulfilling their institutional mandates, these institutions must support the reform momentum in African countries to achieve effective governance for inclusive and sustainable development.”

It is worth recalling that a MoU on the transfer of the functions of the AFROSAI General Secretariat to the Court of Accounts of the Kingdom of Morocco was signed in May 2025.
