Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, arrived in the Colombian city of Cali on Thursday, acting on Royal Instructions, to represent King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of Colombia’s new president.
Upon his arrival, Bourita was received by Valle del Cauca Governor Delia Francisca Toro, Santiago de Cali Mayor Álvaro Alejandro Eder, and Morocco’s Ambassador to Colombia, Farida Loudaya, according to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency.
The inauguration follows the presidential elections held in Colombia in June 2026, which recorded high voter participation. The winning candidate, Abelardo de la Espriella, is expected to succeed the outgoing president during an exceptional inauguration ceremony to be held in Cali, outside the capital Bogotá.
Morocco’s participation in the official ceremony reflects the importance the Kingdom attaches to its relations with Colombia and confirms both countries’ commitment to further strengthening cooperation and developing bilateral relations across various fields.
