Security services in Tangier have opened an investigation into the disappearance of a vehicle belonging to a car-rental agency after what initially appeared to be a regular rental operation developed into a case that has raised concerns among professionals in the sector, according to the available information.
According to the same sources, the person involved, identified as the son of a well-known businessman, initially rented the vehicle through the normal legal process but failed to return it within the agreed deadline. The agency owner reportedly attempted to contact him repeatedly without managing to recover the vehicle.
Available information indicates that the owner subsequently discovered that the vehicle had disappeared and that the GPS tracking device installed inside it had been removed, making it more difficult to determine the car’s location and movements.
The case took a further turn after the agency owner discovered that the vehicle had allegedly been sold to another person, despite not being owned by the individual who carried out the transaction, according to the same sources. The owner subsequently resorted to legal procedures to defend his rights and seek the recovery of the vehicle.
According to the available information, the suspect allegedly justified his actions by claiming that the person who sold him the vehicle owed him money and that the sale was, according to his account, intended to settle that debt. The exact circumstances of the transaction and whether the person involved had any legal right to dispose of the vehicle remain subject to investigation.
The incident has also raised concerns among several car-rental professionals, who fear that similar cases could expose their vehicles to additional risks. They have called for stronger monitoring mechanisms and legal measures to protect vehicles placed in rental service.
Security investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the case, including how the vehicle disappeared, how the GPS tracking device was removed and how the car was subsequently sold, as well as any legal responsibilities that may be established based on the findings of the investigation.
