Graduates specializing in geriatric nursing from the Higher Institute of Nursing Professions and Health Techniques in Casablanca have urged the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to create more recruitment opportunities for their specialty through public employment competitions.
Speaking to Tangier Post, several graduates said that more than 200 professionals from the program are currently unemployed due to the limited number, or complete absence, of positions dedicated to their field, both in regional recruitment competitions and university hospital centers.
They also noted that the Casablanca University Hospital Center welcomes students from the specialty every year for practical training but, according to their statements, has not allocated any positions for geriatric nursing graduates over the past three years despite benefiting from their work during internships.
The graduates called for a review of the current recruitment policy to ensure fair employment opportunities, make better use of qualified national professionals, and strengthen healthcare services provided to the country’s growing elderly population.
