Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (PJD) devoted an extraordinary meeting of its General Secretariat to discussing the recent irregular migration events involving attempts to reach the occupied city of Ceuta, following developments in the towns of M’diq and Fnideq.
In a statement issued after the meeting, the party expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and called for the establishment of a national commission of inquiry, under Royal Instructions, to determine the circumstances surrounding the events, publish its findings, and identify the underlying causes behind the incident.
The party also reaffirmed its support for the Moroccan monarchy and its role in safeguarding the Kingdom’s stability, unity and national constants.
The statement criticized the government’s handling of public communication regarding the events, arguing that the lack of official information and the limited coverage by public media outlets led many citizens to rely on foreign media for updates.
According to the party, the events highlight broader social, economic, political and educational challenges, calling for a review of public policies aimed at strengthening employment opportunities, improving public services and reinforcing citizens’ confidence in state institutions.
