Abundant Harvest Drives Down Fruit and Vegetable Prices in Morocco’s Wholesale Markets

    ayaJuly 18, 2026

Wholesale markets across Morocco have recorded lower prices for a wide range of fruits and vegetables during the early summer season, supported by abundant agricultural production following a favorable farming year.

Industry professionals attribute the decline to the increased supply of seasonal produce, which has significantly boosted the availability of fruits and vegetables, particularly at Casablanca’s wholesale market.

Abdelrazak Chabbi, president of the Casablanca Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Traders Association, said that products such as onions, potatoes, carrots, leafy vegetables, and watermelon are available in large quantities at competitive prices. However, some fruits, including peaches, continue to command different prices due to production and market-related factors.

Despite the decline in wholesale prices, professionals note that lower costs have not been fully reflected in retail markets and supermarkets. They are calling for stronger market oversight to ensure fair pricing and better protect consumers’ purchasing power.
