The Executive Committee of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), meeting on Thursday under the chairmanship of Fouzi Lekjaa, renewed its confidence in head coach Mohamed Ouahbi to continue leading Morocco’s national team. The meeting focused on reviewing the Atlas Lions’ performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and discussing preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
Opening the meeting, Fouzi Lekjaa stressed that hosting the 2030 World Cup requires sustained coordination and mobilization from all stakeholders. He added that the “Morocco 2030” Foundation will oversee preparations for the tournament in cooperation with the Federation.
The Executive Committee considered Morocco’s run to the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup as further evidence of the steady progress achieved by Moroccan football through a long-term development strategy launched several years ago.
Members also called for stronger cooperation with national and regional leagues, improved communication with the public, and continued efforts to protect the national team from misinformation and unfounded rumors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Federation officially confirmed Mohamed Ouahbi’s continuation as head coach of the national team, while postponing discussion of the remaining agenda items to a subsequent meeting.
