New pedestrian bridge to strengthen connectivity between Rabat and Salé

    ayaJuly 14, 2026

Construction has begun on a new pedestrian bridge spanning the Bouregreg River, a project designed to improve connectivity between Rabat and Salé while enhancing urban mobility, public spaces and sustainable transportation.

The bridge will provide pedestrians with a safe and convenient crossing while creating a new recreational area offering panoramic views of the Bouregreg waterfront and the historic and architectural landmarks that define both cities.

The initiative also supports sustainable mobility by encouraging walking for short-distance trips, reducing reliance on motor vehicles and contributing to environmentally friendly urban development.

Beyond its transport function, the bridge is expected to become a popular destination for residents and visitors seeking scenic walks, photography opportunities and spectacular views, particularly during sunrise and sunset.

Once completed, the project will further strengthen the urban integration of Rabat and Salé while adding a new architectural landmark that enhances the cultural, tourism and economic appeal of the Bouregreg Valley.
