Tangier Prepares to Enforce Demolition Orders Against Unlicensed Buildings

    ayaJune 20, 2026

The city of Tangier is witnessing growing attention surrounding decisions related to the demolition of a number of buildings reportedly constructed without the required permits in different parts of the city, as part of ongoing urban planning and regulatory oversight efforts.

According to available information, inspection committees have identified cases involving unauthorized construction in several neighborhoods of Tangier and its surrounding areas, leading to administrative and legal procedures concerning the buildings in question.

The reported locations include the municipality of Kzenaya, as well as the neighborhoods of Al Aouama, Tangier El Balia and Mghogha, where monitoring operations have reportedly documented a number of structures that are subject to review by the competent authorities.

Sources indicate that the relevant services may begin implementing demolition decisions concerning certain buildings in the coming days, in accordance with the applicable legal procedures and regulatory framework.

The information available further suggests that the measures may not be limited to peripheral districts and could also affect buildings located in other areas, including zones near Achakar, depending on the outcome of inspections and administrative reviews.

Unauthorized construction remains a significant urban planning issue in Tangier, amid ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring compliance with building regulations and supporting the city’s organized urban development.
