Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi has stated that the national team is fully aware of the expectations surrounding its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing that the squad is determined to achieve a successful campaign.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of Morocco’s match against Scotland, Ounahi said the team is composed of talented young players with strong character and a deep sense of responsibility toward representing the country on the world stage.
Commenting on the draw against Brazil in the opening match, the Moroccan midfielder noted that World Cup openers are often difficult, adding that both individual and collective performances tend to improve as the tournament progresses.
Ounahi emphasized that Morocco is not aiming for a symbolic participation, but rather seeks to advance as far as possible in the competition, considering every match an important step toward qualification for the next rounds.
He also praised teammate Ayoub Bouaddi, stating that his impressive display against Brazil did not surprise the squad, given the qualities he has shown since joining the national team, and expressed confidence in his future development.
