Police officers from the Tangier Security Directorate, working in coordination with Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested a 39-year-old suspect on Monday in connection with a case involving the possession and distribution of drugs and psychotropic substances.
The operation was carried out in a rural area on the outskirts of Tangier, where the suspect was apprehended while traveling in a light vehicle.
A search conducted as part of the investigation resulted in the seizure of 5,500 pills, including 4,500 Rivotril tablets and 1,000 ecstasy pills, according to preliminary investigative findings.
The suspect was placed in police custody pending a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the full circumstances of the case and identify any possible connections.
The operation forms part of ongoing security efforts aimed at combating drug trafficking and the distribution of psychotropic substances.
