A number of Senegal national team supporters will be unable to travel to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after their visa applications were reportedly denied by U.S. authorities.
According to available information, the decision was linked to immigration and security screening procedures applied by the United States in certain cases.
Senegal’s Ministry of Sports confirmed the development. Speaking to Agence France-Presse, communications adviser Ndiaye Dom Thiouf said it would be the first time Senegal has been unable to send an official supporters’ delegation to a FIFA World Cup.
She added that efforts to cover the travel expenses of representatives from supporters’ associations were unsuccessful in securing the required visas.
The development comes as teams and fans prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is being hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
