Turkish authorities have arrested a Moroccan national who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued through Interpol at the request of Spanish police, in connection with a criminal investigation involving a network dismantled in Spain several years ago.
According to Spanish media reports, the suspect was arrested in a hotel in the coastal city of Bodrum after remaining out of reach since 2019, shortly before the start of judicial proceedings against him in Spain.
The same sources stated that the suspect allegedly attempted to conceal his identity during the police operation, before fingerprint analysis and security investigations confirmed his identity.
The case is linked to a network dismantled by Spanish authorities in 2015 as part of investigations into the exploitation of minors and the distribution of illegal material involving children.
Spanish courts issued prison sentences in 2019 against several defendants connected to the case, while the Moroccan suspect reportedly remained abroad until his recent arrest in Turkey.
