Officers from Morocco’s National Judicial Police Brigade, acting on intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, foiled an international drug trafficking attempt during the early hours of Thursday, May 14, 2026, near Casablanca.
The security operation, carried out in the rural area of Ouled Azzouz, resulted in the seizure of a utility vehicle abandoned by its driver following a nighttime police pursuit.
According to a security source, a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 86 packages of cannabis resin with a total weight estimated at three tons and 400 kilograms.
A judicial investigation has been launched under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to identify and arrest the driver involved, as well as any other individuals potentially connected to the case.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Moroccan security services to combat international drug trafficking and criminal networks linked to narcotics and psychotropic substances.
