Complaint filed in Rabat over Israeli flag burning incident

    ayaApril 27, 2026

A complaint was filed this week with the Presidency of the Public Prosecution by Rabat-based lawyer Fayçal Oumrzouk against several activists associated with anti-normalization movements, including Aziz Ghali, Ahmed Ouaihman, and Aziz Hanaoui, following an incident involving the burning of the Israeli flag on Mohammed V Avenue in Rabat, according to the details included in the complaint.

According to the document, the complainant referred to slogans he described as provocative, as well as the dissemination of digital content on social media which he considers to constitute incitement to punishable acts, citing Article 431 of the Moroccan Penal Code, the complaint also links these events to a context involving Jewish tourists performing prayers near Bab Doukkala in Marrakech.

The complaint also names the organizations Al Adl Wal Ihssane and Annahj Al Oummali, referencing Article 221 of the Penal Code related to the disruption of religious practices, along with relevant constitutional provisions.

The complainant called for an investigation into the reported acts, as well as an examination of potential links between certain individuals, digital pages, and external entities, as stated in the complaint.

In a statement, the lawyer said that this step comes, according to his account, within the context of monitoring certain dynamics in the national scene, referring to a sequence of events that began on the 19th of the current month, and warning about content circulating on social media.
