Moroccan and French armed forces have concluded “Chergui 2025,” a bilateral military exercise held in the Errachidia region, eastern Morocco. The operation aimed to enhance interoperability and reinforce defense cooperation between the two countries.

The exercise involved ground and air units from both sides. France deployed personnel and equipment from the 5th Combat Helicopter Regiment, the 1st Chasseur Regiment, the 1st Tirailleur Regiment, and the 4th Air Combat Brigade. Moroccan forces participated with M1A2 Abrams tanks and mechanized infantry units.

Training activities included logistical deployment, airlift simulations, fire support coordination, and urban combat scenarios. French helicopters such as Gazelle, Tigre, and NH90 models, supported troop movements and tactical operations.

Military officials from both countries described the exercise as successful, citing improved coordination and operational readiness. The drills were conducted under harsh desert conditions, testing personnel and equipment in a high-stress environment.

“Chergui 2025” is part of ongoing Franco-Moroccan defense cooperation, with a focus on regional security and joint response capabilities.
