Morocco’s National Library (BNRM) is taking part in the 11th edition of the Baku International Book Fair, currently being held in the Azerbaijani capital.

As part of this cultural event, a partnership and cooperation agreement was signed between the BNRM, represented by its Director, Samira Malizi, and the National Library of Azerbaijan, focusing primarily on librarianship, exchange of expertise and publications, and the organization of joint activities, within the framework of strengthening cultural cooperation between Morocco and Azerbaijan.

Mrs Malizi participated in an international conference on the “Role of National Libraries in Preserving Cultural Heritage.” In her address, she highlighted the role of Morocco’s National Library in preserving and promoting the country’s documentary heritage.

The Moroccan pavilion at the fair that was inaugurated on Friday at the National Library of Azerbaijan, by Mrs Malizi and her Azerbaijani counterpart, Karim Tahrov, showcases Moroccan publications donated by the BNRM to the Azerbaijani institution. These publications cover the history, geography, and heritage of the Kingdom, as well as the major development projects launched by King Mohammed VI, in addition to works devoted to the Green March.

The Baku International Book Fair, which runs until October 7, provides a platform for interaction between publishers and readers and seeks to strengthen the presence of the publishing industry in the digital age.
