Belgian side Genk have suffered a blow after Moroccan right back Zakaria El Ouahdi picked up a shoulder injury during their Europa League match on Thursday night against Ferencvaros.
The 23-year-old was stretchered off with 15 minutes remaining, sparking concern among teammates and staff. He was later taken to the hospital for scans, which showed no fracture, according to Belgian outlet Walfoot.
The tests confirmed a shoulder dislocation with ligament damage, and El Ouahdi will miss Sunday’s league match against Dender.
Genk coach Thorsten Fink said: “I’m not a doctor, but it looks like a dislocation. I just hope he won’t be out for too long.”
El Ouahdi has played 9 matches so far for Genk, scoring 4 goals and providing one assist.
