Badreddine Diani defeated Iran’s Amir Fazli by split decision in the PFL MENA Welterweight semifinals.
The Moroccan lost the first round but came back strongly to dominate the next two.
Confusion struck when the announcer mistakenly named Fazli as the winner, leaving Diani in tears in his corner. Moments later, the error was corrected, and Diani was declared the rightful victor.
The announcement was met with loud cheers and relief from Moroccan fans inside The Arena in Riyadh.
Diani will next face Kuwait’s Mohammad Alaqraa, who advanced to the final after beating Egypt’s Ayman Galal by TKO, following a brutal low kick that injured Galal’s knee.
The PFL MENA final will take place on December 5th in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
