Morocco and the United States have agreed to set up a joint commission to ensure the air transportation of Moroccan fans during the 2026 World Cup and reinforce coordination between Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc and other airlines in this regard.

The decision was made at a meeting held in Montreal on Friday between Morocco’s minister of Transport, Abdessamad Kayouh, and Assistant Administrator in charge of International Operations at the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, Anthony Q. Monreal.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 42nd Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), reviewed means to step up cooperation between the two countries in air transport, with focus on aspects related to the safety and security of air navigation.

The two sides underlined the importance of exchanging expertise and experience in airport security and strengthening coordination within international bodies.

They commended, on this occasion, the quality of relations and the level of cooperation between Morocco and the United States in the civil aviation sector, while stressing the importance of advancing this sector through the establishment of cutting-edge technical and security partnerships that address current and future challenges.

Morocco is represented at the 42nd Session of the ICAO Assembly, held September 23 through October 3, by a large delegation led by the transport minister.

The Kingdom’s participation in this event demonstrates its ongoing commitment to sustainable development and civil aviation safety, as well as its willingness to contribute actively to strengthening international cooperation in this strategic sector.

The ICAO Assembly is the Organization’s sovereign body. It meets at least once every three years and is convened by the organization’s governing body, the ICAO Council.
