Morocco meets with Sahel Countries to advance Royal Atlantic Initiative – The North Africa Post

Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita met on Wednesday in New York with his peers from Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Chad on the Royal initiative offering Atlantic access to these African landlocked countries.

During this follow-up meeting, convened on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, the four African diplomats said the Royal initiative enjoys strong regional, continental and international support. They also voiced their determination to start carrying out the priority projects recommended by the national task force of participating countries.

The North African Kingdom is pushing forward this strategic keystone project to transform the economies of the Sahel region, speed up regional integration and generate shared growth, stability and progress.

Morocco has already built a road to connect the country to those of the Sahel. It is accelerating the construction of the Dakhla Atlantic port, $1,26 billion logistic hub, to enable Sahel countries to export raw materials, minerals…and import goods, machinery, equipment…

The Atlantic Port of Dakhla is designed to connect Africa to the rest of the world and revolutionize global supply chains by 2028.
