Rabat & Madrid reaffirm solid strategic partnership – The North Africa Post

Moroccan foreign Nasser Bourita met on Tuesday in New York with Spanish peer José Manuel Albares on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting, which focused on topics of common interests on the regional and international scene, confirms the strong cooperation ties and strategic partnership existing between the two countries, sharing a long history and complex geopolitical interests.

The Moroccan-Spanish talks come ahead of the upcoming meeting of the UN Security Council expected to take pivotal decisions on the Sahara, based only on the Autonomy plan offered by Morocco for the territory under its sovereignty.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Bourita met with several top diplomats who expressed support for Morocco’s full sovereignty over its entire Saharan territory and lauded the “serious, credible and realistic” Autonomy plan offered by Rabat for the Sahara for a lasting and peaceful resolution of this decades-long conflict.

On Monday, Bourita met with FM of Paraguay Rubén Darío Ramírez Lezcano who announced his country’s recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and decision of opening a consulate in the Kingdom’s southern Provinces.

This announcement smacked the Algerian military regime and its Polisario puppet, suffering a growing international isolation and loss of credibility following the collapse of their destabilizing axis of evil.

Morocco is making a major diplomatic breakthrough in Central America wherein Panama’s FM Javier Martínez-Acha Vasquez has reaffirmed his country’s strong support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara during a meeting held in NY with Bourita.

The ministers of Foreign Affairs of Burundi and Palau have also expressed, during separate meetings with Moroccan FM, supportive stands backing the Kingdom’s territorial Integrity and Sovereignty and Moroccan autonomy plan as the only realistic solution to the Sahara regional conflict.

Bourita also held separate meetings with his peers of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Somalia Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Switzerland Ignazio Cassis, and the Netherlands David Van Weel.

These meetings provided the opportunity to discuss several regional and international issues of common interest and to coordinate positions within international bodies. Talks also focused on means to reinforce Morocco’s relations and cooperation with these countries.
