Arab-Islamic Summit Denounces Israeli Strike on Qatar, Pledges Unified Support

Rabat – Arab and Muslim leaders closed the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha with a firm and unified stance against Israel’s strike on Qatar.

The summit described the Israeli attack on Doha as a blatant violation of international law and a grave threat to regional peace.

Leaders called for a reassessment of ties with Israel following its strike on Qatar and urged a collective decision to “review” relations with Israel after the attack that targeted Hamas officials on Qatari soil last week.

    Strong condemnation of attack

The summit’s final statement described the assault as “cowardly and illegal,” warning that the attack undermines any prospects for peace in the Middle East.

Leaders voiced absolute solidarity with Qatar and pledged to support all measures it may take in response.

Striking a neutral mediation venue not only endangers Qatar but also undermines international peacemaking processes, reads the statement, stressing: “This is not simply an attack on one state, but an assault on diplomacy itself.”

The Israeli attack killed at least six people. Hamas reported five fatalities, including the son and assistant of the group’s senior leader Khalil al-Hayya. Meanwhile, Qatar said one security officer was among those killed during the bombing.

    Recognition of Qatar’s stance

Leaders commended Qatar’s “civilised and wise” handling of Israel’s “treacherous” attack.

They noted Qatar’s constructive role in mediation, particularly alongside Egypt and the US in efforts to halt the genocide in Gaza.

The statement also commended Qatar’s contribution to regional stability, describing its mediation track as “appreciated and indispensable” for building security.

    Firm rejection of Israeli justifications

The summit categorically rejected attempts to justify the strike under any pretext and dismissed Israel’s repeated threats to target Qatar again.

Such actions, the statement warned, represent an unprecedented escalation against a UN member state and risk destabilising the entire region.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari said the meeting symbolized a rare moment of unanimity.

“Arab and Muslim leaders have come together to express their unified stance against the Israeli attack on Qatar,” al-Ansari told reporters.

“They asserted that the attack on an Islamic and Arab country and member of the UN is an unprecedented escalation and a threat to international peace and security.”

He added that the summit was not about dependency, but about sovereignty and principle: “This emergency summit in Doha is not a dependency summit, but a message to the entire world that as Arab and Islamic countries, we reject any aggression, and we assert that the Palestinian cause would remain central until the Palestinian people regain their full rights.”

Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, sent a clear message to Washington during a press briefing at the Doha summit.

“We expect our strategic partners in the US to use their influence on Israel for it to stop this behaviour – we really do expect that,” Albudaiwi declared.

“They have leverage and influence over Israel and it’s about time that this leverage and influence are used,” he added.

Morocco actively took part in the summit, with Prince Moulay Rachid representing King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and a high-level Moroccan delegation.

The North African country strongly condemned Israel’s strike on Qatar and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, stressing that such actions jeopardize regional stability and undermine international peace efforts.
