Why El Chorouk newspaper launches savage rant against Trump & Washington – The North Africa Post

Algerian newspaper El-Chorouk, mouthpiece of the ruling military regime, has unleashed a vicious rant against the United States and its President Donald Trump, labelling America as “The biggest terrorist State in the world”.

The daily slammed U.S. imperialism and foreign policy around the world, especially in the Middle Est, describing Trump in scurrilous and vitriolic terms, crossing all red lines and media ethics. This is not journalism. It’s a perversion of journalism.

The infamous newspaper also accused “the Jews of being behind every crime” in an outrageous and disgraceful antisemitic attack, mixing false historical facts with politically-motivated propaganda.

The State Department or U.S. embassy in Algiers should respond to this despicable media offensive fueled and sponsored by the Algerian rogue State.

According to some commentators, an official apology for American libeling is needed. Such anti-American trolling and fomented hatred for Jews must be addressed and should not be tolerated.

The roots of anti-Americanism and antisemitism run deeper in Algerian establishment and society due to significant ties to the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War and socialist-leaning post-independence government’s alignment with the Soviet Union.

Furthermore, Algerian public anti-American views are shaped by widespread negative portrayals in local media and the perception of the U.S. as a superpower that supports Israel and interferes in the region.

However, the surge in anti-American and antisemitism has unveiled the true ugly face of the Algerian regime which was trying hard to lure Trump administration with business incentives to escape incoming sanctions and gain leverage over its arch-rival Morocco.

But “whoever digs a pit for others falls into it”. This old adage is really true for the authoritarian Algerian regime whose reckless policy will have serious consequences for the country’s battered economy with the growing defection of foreign investors, loss of international trust, a surge in inflation & unemployment and stagnation.

According to some analysts, the Algerian junta has unleashed its media against Washington after losing faith and hope of reversing American support for Moroccan sovereignty over its Sahara and Autonomy plan as the UN Security Council is expected to take pivotal decisions in favor of Rabat during its upcoming October meeting!
